Further investigation revealed that the Tucson in question is a manual, 1.6 diesel with 136hp. The automatic is available with awd and 185 hp. Both versions use a 440Wh battery.

Two separate electrical systems, a 48v and a 12v, manage the car. Why it is manual? I don’t know, but this system doesn’t seem to have an “EV” only mode, which would make the clutch redundant.

It does score the “ECO” emissions standard for Spain, the second best out of four.

The early 2000s Civic hybrids were also sold with a stick along with the CRZ.

The 48V systems are the mildest of hybrids. It's essentially a 48V starter motor, that can drive the driveshaft or add drag to the driveshaft at various times. Definitely no EV mode, as it only adds a few HP in bursts.

It’s a (very) mild hybrid. Some energy is recovered but it doesn’t actually drive the car.

I know people make them and I know they exist but I don’t understand why manual transmission hybrids and electric cars don’t get nor recognition. I would love to learn more about the intricacies of a manual transmission electric car ( in an easy to read format with all of the challenging research done for me, of course)

I dunno—if it is, I’d totally have one. The Tucson strikes a nice balance of boring and adequately nice as a daily IMO, and a hybrid with a stick adds just the right level of pizzaz to make it mildly interesting.
